TechKnow MeetUp August 7, 2018

At our meetup we had Glenn Taylor as our presenter. In Glenn's presentation he will be discussing his M328 transistor tester (kit). It basically is a multi-function transistor tester for identifying and measuring the following types of 2 or 3 lead components: Resistors Capacitors Diodes LEDs Inductors/coils PNP & NPN Transistors N-channel and P-channel MOSFETs Thyristors It also has a frequency meter and a square wave signal and PWM signal generator built in. It supposedly will test IR remote control units too if you add a IR sensor to the tester. It will also display ESR data for some capacitors too which helps identify if a capacitor is starting to dry out and eventually fail. ESR is equivalent series resistance. Generally the lower the ESR number is the better it is for the capacitor to function properly. This board is an open source design that is based on the same microcontrollers that power the Arduinos.
