At our meetup we had Torrey Proctor as our presenter. In Torrey's presentation, he will be discussing: MagicaVoxel which is a free lightweight 8-bit voxel editor and interactive path tracing renderer. Applications for the use of this program include the design of 8 bit graphics for video game art, animation, graphic design, motion graphics, 3D printing, Minecraft, and even virtual reality. Torrey will walk you thought how to get started designing your own creations with this free program. At our meetup we had John Hass as our presenter. In John's presentation, he will be discussing: IPv6 The replacement for IPv4. He will be discussing the benefits and challenges for converting to IPv6 addressing, as well as how this will affect you as the change from IPv4 to IPv6 takes place.

At our meetup we had John Hass & Matt Bathke as our presenters. In John and Matt's presentation they will be discussing: Cryptocurrency. Over the last 6 months various Cryptocurrencies have experienced a surge value, and a surge in use. The top 5 Cryptocurrencies now are worth a total $78 Billion USD combined. We will focus on Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, NEM, and Litecoin, discussing the differences between them, what the intended goal is behind each network, and how these Cryptocurrencies could impact our day to day lives.

At our meetup we had Dave Sierck as our presenter. In Dave's presentation he will be discussing: Astrophotography, which is a specialized type of photography where you take pictures of objects in Outer Space from Earth. Dave will discuss how he got started with Astrophotography. He will also go over different techniques and equipment used, as well as showing how he sets his telescope up and uses software to help him take pictures of astronomical objects.

At our meetup we had Torrey Proctor as our presenter. Torrey Proctor Torrey teaches K-5 STEM at Spencer Community Schools. For his presentation Torrey will be discussing: Torrey Proctor was recently selected as one of ten educators to partake in the Iowa Space Grant Consortium’s two-day workshop at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. “The program is an exciting professional development experience that links to STEM and the NASA mission for training and enables teachers to bring their experiences back to their classrooms, schools, and colleagues”. TechKnow attendees will experience NASA education through hands-on projects, play, 3D glasses, and stories.

 

TechKnow MeetUp February 7, 2017

At our meetup we had Jon Noteboom & Nate Sydow as our presenters. Jon is the President of Flight Club, a FPV drone racing/freestyle club in Northwest Iowa. As well as running the club he is also a mechanical designer at Maintainer Corporation of Iowa, INC. located in Sheldon, Iowa. In his spare time he also runs his own drone company, Midwest Aerial Solutions. Jon's presentation will be on building and flying drones. He will also have a few examples on hand to display the different types of Drones.

At our meetup we had Tony Virelli & Matt Bathke as our presenters. Tony is an owner and programmer at Emagine, and Matt is one of the founding members of Techknow.io. Tony and Matt's presentation will be on Holiday Gift ideas for youth interested in technology. We will have everything from 3D printing Pens, Robots for learning Stem and Coding, kits that teach electrical circuit design, a Raspberry Pi 3 kit designed for ages 6 and up, kits for building remote controlled machines, and more on hand for you play with after the presentation.

At our meetup we had Logan Wood as our presenter. Logan is an owner and designer at Emagine. Logan's presentation will be on Graphics Design and Photo editing. He will show you some tools and tricks you can use to create you own graphical art or to simply edit your own photos. He will give you references for free online software you can download and use to perform the same tasks he will be doing in his presentation.

At our meetup we had Clay Fox as our presenter. Clay built a Solar charging system for his phone to let him charge his phone on the go while playing Pokemon Go. This was our first-ever TechKnow Meetup. TechKnow is a meetup for like minded people who love to learn, teach and experience new technologies. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month from 5PM to 7PM and discuss the latest technologies and projects that it's members are working with. The best part... it's 100% free.
